Shazam! Fury of the Gods Director Responds to Movie’s Critics and Steps Back from the Superhero Genre

David F. Sandberg may have hopes to return to the Shazam franchise in the future, but for now he is done with the superhero world. Having overseen Shazam! and new sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Sandberg has seen the movie get a thumping from critics which has led the director to air his thoughts on Twitter, where he also confirmed that his immediate path lies away from the genre and made note of the “online discourse” that superhero movies bring online.
