On December 25, HBO Max will start offering Wonder Woman 1984 for its streaming subscribers in the US. However, the service will do a lot more than that in 2021. Next year, you can expect to see 17 theatrical Warner Bros. HBO Max movies on the service. All of them will also be released in theaters or at least in the ones that are still open.

This is a bold and game-changing move, to say the least. If you don’t already have HBO Max we highly recommend it. You can sign up for HBO Max now at the link below, where it will cost just $14.99 a month. Considering going to just one new movie can easily cost more than this depending on concessions and number of people in your family, HBO’s new same-day theatrical release plans more than pay for the monthly subscription.

So, what movies can you expect to stream on the service, and why is Warner Bros. doing this anyway? Here’s what we know about this highly unusual movie release strategy for one of the biggest movie studios in Hollywood.

How will the new Warner Bros HBO Max movie release schedule work?

As with Wonder Woman 1984, Warner Bros still plans to offer all of its 2021 movies in theaters that are open worldwide. However, due to the current coronavirus outbreak that has delayed the theatrical release dates of most major films, the studio decided to give US moviegoers an option to see its films from the safety of their own homes. Therefore, all of its 2021 films will debut day-and-date in both theaters and on HBO Max for US residents.

Will I have to pay extra for watching these Warner Bros HBO Max movies?

No. All of these films will be released on HBO Max at no additional cost. The HBO Max subscription is priced at $14.99 a month.

Again, these movies will follow the strategy of Wonder Woman 1984. They will be available to stream on HBO Max for one month, and then they will leave the service. The movies will still be available for a couple of extra months in open movie theaters. They will then be released via digital movie stores for rent or purchase, along with 4K UHD, Blu-Ray, and DVD discs. After several months, the movies will return to HBO Max for a much longer run, likely over a year.

Here’s the list of the Warner Bros HBO Max 2021 movies. Some already have release dates, while others don’t yet have release time frames. Keep in mind that these dates could, and likely will, change.
