We asked, you told us: You think the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is on fire
The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra purportedly made its unofficial debut in a massive YouTube leak last week. The clip showcased the phone’s key design features, including a tiny rear display, a huge rear camera array, and its IP68 water resistance rating. It seems that Xiaomi is finally taking that Ultra tag to heart. But what do our readers think of the phone?
In a recent poll, we asked you if you thought the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is hot or not. This is your conclusion.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra: Hot or not?
Results
If you were hoping for a contentious result, we’re sorry to disappoint. With some 79% of the vote, more than 1,000 readers believe the forthcoming Ultra model in the Mi 11 series is “hot.”
That’s entirely understandable. On paper, it seems that Xiaomi is taking a leaf out of Samsung’s book, throwing everything and the kitchen sink into its forthcoming UItra model. It will reportedly sport a Snapdragon 888 chipset, and a 50MP main camera with two 48MP tertiary cameras for zoom and wide shots. It would also be the first Xiaomi device with an official water resistance badge. That rear display should be a boon for selfie shooters and compulsive notification peekers.
But ultra phones aren’t for everyone — around one in five voters (21%) don’t like the Mi 11 Ultra.
For some, it might not be aesthetically pleasing. The phone’s not what we’d call classically beautiful. The Mi 11 Ultra seems a bit of a brute complete with a 6.67-inch display and chunky body. And considering that specs sheet, it’s likely the Ultra could pack a similarly brutish price tag, too. Users may lament the lack of a secondary zoom camera at the rear, or a better selfie camera arrangement up front.
Here’s what you had to say
- Bart: Camera bump thickness is on new level.
- Anthorama: A whole 2nd screen to take two selfie per month. I guess these “ultra” phones are full of experimental ideas not really fulfilling a need.
- Wongwatt: So a daft extra screen rather than two zoom lenses? Pointless.
- Demongornot: What is this obsession with water resistance?
We aren’t mermaids, is there any known issue with Xiaomi phones and water? I never heard of it, IP rating is not a necessity, it just adds cost for basically nothing other than “certifying” that a phone can only have some chances of surviving the same conditions of a lab test and only when it is still new.
That’s it for this Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra poll. Thanks to those who voted and commented. If you have any additional thoughts on the phone or the results, do drop a comment down below.
