- Leakers say they’ve revealed the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G.
- The design would be very familiar — any big changes are on the inside.
- It’s believed that the 4G and 5G models will have pricing of €349 and €429 respectively.
Update: February 16, 2021 (12:53 AM ET): The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G has now leaked via German tech website WinFuture, detailing specs and pricing. We’ve updated the article accordingly.
Original article, December 8, 2020 (05:15 PM ET): The Galaxy A51 is arguably more important than the S20 — it’s the affordable phone you’re more likely to buy, the phone that caters to a wide audience instead of enthusiasts. And Samsung apparently knows it. Well-known leaker OnLeaks has shared renders of what he says is the Galaxy A52 5G, and it looks like Samsung isn’t in a rush to reinvent one of its best-selling designs.
The images suggest the Galaxy A52 will hew very close to the template Samsung established with the A51. You’ll still get a 6.5-inch display with a hole-punch selfie camera, an under-the-screen fingerprint reader, and a quad rear camera array. The largest outward change may be the look of those rear cameras, which visually resemble what you see on the Note 20 family.
On February 2, tipster Evan Blass also revealed a gaggle of GIFs showing the phone’s four rumored colorways. They detailed the phone’s Galaxy Note 20-like camera array, including three large camera sensors with another smaller unit above an LED flash.
As for the colorways, Blass noted that the phone will arrive in four flavors, namely Awesome Black, Awesome White, Awesome Blue, and Awesome Violet. See the latter two options in the GIFs above.
The design and colorway options were echoed by WinFuture on February 16, 2021, all but confirming the final look of the device.
Samsung Galaxy A52: Specs?
A listing of the device on the Chinese regulatory platform TENAA revealed that it measures 159.9 x 75.1 x 8.4mm and looks like the device in the aforementioned leaked renders. The screen, as rumored before, is 6.5-inches tall with an AMOLED panel.
Fortunately, SamMobile reported on Galaxy A52 and A52 5G specs on February 11. The website claimed that the Galaxy A52 and A52 5G will sport a Snapdragon 720G and Snapdragon 750G chipset respectively, with high refresh rates on offer too. Expect 90Hz for the A52 and 120Hz for the A52 5G.

The website also touted plenty of specs for the 5G model, but said it was likely that these specs would be shared by the 4G model. The claimed details include 6GB to 8GB of RAM, 128GB to 256GB of storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 25W charging. It’s also believed that the phone has a 32MP selfie snapper, a 64MP primary shooter, 12MP ultra-wide camera, 5MP macro lens, and 5MP depth sensor.
WinFuture corroborated almost all of these specifications, although it wasn’t able to dish out solid details regarding refresh rate. It also claimed that the phones will be IP67 water resistant and pack a 3.5mm port. The latter isn’t a surprise considering that the renders indeed show a port, but water resistance is definitely unexpected at this tier.
Pricing and availability
There was initially no mention of a release date or price for the Galaxy A52 when the first leaks emerged. However, the WinFuture leak gives us pricing of €349 (~$424) for the 4G model and €429 (~$521) for the 5G variant, as well as European availability. There’s no word on pricing or availability in other regions.
For what it’s worth, European prices tend to be a little more expensive than US pricing. So we’d expect a lower price tag for these devices when they cross the Atlantic. Nevertheless, features like water resistance and high refresh rates make for sensible upgrades over the Galaxy A51 and A51 5G.
