Redmi Note 9T announced: The first 5G Redmi Note hits global markets
- Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 9T.
- It’s essentially the Redmi Note 9 5G for global markets.
- The company also launched the Redmi 9T.
Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 9 5G and Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G in China back in November, and we just saw the Pro variant come to India as the Mi 10i 5G. Now, the standard Redmi Note 9 5G is leaving its home market as well, as Xiaomi announces the Redmi Note 9T.
The new phone is indeed the Redmi Note 9 5G with a tweaked name, so that means a mid-range Dimensity 800U processor, a 6.53-inch FHD+ LCD screen with Gorilla Glass 5, and a 48MP triple rear camera setup (48MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro). You’re also getting a 13MP shooter in a punch-hole cutout on the left.
Xiaomi’s phone also features a 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging (and a 22.5W charger in the box), 4GB of RAM, and 64GB to 128GB of expandable storage. The lack of faster wired charging in particular is disappointing given the size of the battery, but it’s understandable given the price point.
Other notable features include an IR blaster, NFC, dual stereo speakers, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, splash-proof coating, and 5G+5G dual SIM capabilities.
Expect to pay €229 (~$281) for the 4GB/64GB model, while the 4GB/128GB Redmi Note 9T will set you back €269 (~$330). However, Xiaomi has confirmed early bird pricing of €199 (~$244) and €249 (~$305) respectively. The phone will be available in Nightfall Black and Daybreak Purple from January 11. Either way, this definitely makes for one of the cheaper 5G phones in Europe.
Redmi 9T is now official too
Xiaomi also officially announced the 4G-toting Redmi 9T at the event, coming just a week after a now-deleted unboxing video detailed the device. True to the video, you’re essentially looking at a tweaked Poco M3. The new phone packs an extra rear camera (8MP ultra-wide) as well as an overhauled camera housing.
Otherwise, the Redmi 9T is identical to the Poco M3, featuring a Snapdragon 662 chipset, 6.53-inch FHD+ LCD screen, a 6,000mAh battery with 18W charging, and a quad rear camera setup (48MP+8MP+2MP+2MP). You’re also getting an IR blaster and stereo speakers.
The new phone retails for €159 (~$195) for a 4GB/64GB model, and €189 (~$232) for a 4GB/128GB option. Xiaomi is also selling a Redmi 9T NFC model, with the 4GB/64GB variant retailing for €169 (~$207), while the 4GB/128GB option with NFC will set you back €199 (~$244). Expect to find it in Carbon Gray, Twilight Blue, Sunrise Orange, and Ocean Green.
